Big Arch Energy

Beneath a stormy sky stands Delicate Arch, an icon of western landscapes and special to me as Arches National Park was my first park. The central figure in this piece is a blue big horn sheep, a symbol of strength and resilience, perfectly adapted to it's rugged home. I worked one season at Arches N.P., monitoring raptors and other bird species. The ghostly birds in the sky are both a reference to that work and to the person who gave me that chance and started me down a career in field biology, Gary, who passed away shortly after I arrived. This piece is a homage to that powerful landscape and the people who also worked there and helped shape me into the person I am today through example, shared stories, and sharing their passion for conservation and protection of these amazing landscapes.
